Greater (Posterior) Palatine Nerve Block

* Always administer an initial .05cc injection to provide subtopical anesthesia for painless application.

The Greater Palatine nerve can be blocked either at the greater palatine foramen (first two figures) or at any point along its course (second two images) midway between the gingival margin and the midline of the palate.

Place the instrument at right angles to the palatal mucosa and hold it firmly.
